Upon plugging up two Venom 2S LiPos in series the ESC (DYNM3820) quickly began to smoke even before switched on.
Received a new one promptly from Horizon Hobby.
Once installed and tested I found that the steering servo (DYN3900) couldn't return to neutral because the rudder (PRB4087) was too tight. Disassembled the rudder, sanded down the pin and oiled for proper operation. Once fixed, tested the boat on the lake with NiMH batteries. No smoke & all worked properly so its ready for a LiPo test, boat races and lastly an upgrade to a Leopard 2200kv.

Look for 1st runs, race v Miss Geico 24 brushless, and Leopard upgrade videos.
One of the fastest RTR RC boats.

I am eager to get this on the water, upgrade it and help the kids finish their boat upgrades.
Have stacks of parts and boats waiting.

Nearly all our boats were purchased off ebay cheap. Put a lot of bids in low and sometimes you get lucky

Run time was short about 5 minutes likely bc battery sat for several days before use. Usually run same day as charge and can get close to 20 minutes cruising or 10 full throttle straight aways.

Boat was dry even after all the flips and crashes. 

Proboat Miss Geico 24" RTR RC boat upgraded from 15T 2200kv brushed DC to 3,500kv Brushless. Running on Venom 2S 5A 30C LiPo.


Needs adjusting for hop and an upgraded rudder and drive to handle the increased power and RPM.

Hobby King HK-010 Power Analyzer Amp Draw data Proboat Miss Geico 24 Brushless Upgrade, Miss Geico 17, & Shockwave 26 Brushless for pending battery and motor upgrades. 

Miss Geico 24 BL soon to have two 3S 4A LiPos in parallel for 8,000mah at 11.1V.
Shockwave 26 will get 3S before changing motor from 1500KV to something faster.

Stock running on NiMH.
Have larger prop being shipped so hopefully it can run on LiPo without cavitation. 

Proboat Impulse 9 spends as much time underwater as it does above.

I9 flips, dives, barrel roles and runs underwater.


Couldn't get the boat to perform well on LiPo but its still fun on NiMH once you learn how to run it underwater.
It does take on some water after a while and I wouldn't risk ruining a LiPo but don't mind dunking it with a NiMH.

Step 1 of converting the Proboat Blackjack 9 from brushed DC to Brushless.

Taking RPM and Amp draw measurements of the BJ9 180 size Brushed DC motor for comparison of a compatible Brushless motor and ESC.

Its unlikely that all required equipment will fit in the blackjack. If it does it will probably be a submarine due to weight but this is one of the summer projects for the kids along with Miss Geico 17 Brushless conversion, Shockwave 26 upgrade, and Traxxas E Revo mod.
